The eye is a sensitive organ that reacts to light and is crucial for connecting us to the world and experiencing it. Through our eyes, we gain a clear visual perception of objects. Vision is the most relied-upon sense for human life. Eyes are one of the most important parts of our body, but today, due to pollution, we experience issues like irritation, blurry vision, redness, conjunctivitis, and other allergies. If our eyes were to stop functioning even for a moment, our world (life) would be plunged into darkness. In today’s digital age, everyone extensively uses laptops, mobiles, and tablets. Remember, these devices weaken our eyes, and another major issue is the heat, which causes extra itching and redness in the eyes. Do not ignore these symptoms.

You can take care of your eyes by following the methods below:
Dietary Habits:
- Drink spinach juice on an empty stomach every morning to improve vision and blood health.
- Always include vitamins A, B, and C in your diet.
Cooling the Eyes:
- Use cucumber or potato slices on your eyes for a cooling effect.
- Rinse your eyes with cold water when you come in from outside.
Handling Irritation:
- Wash your eyes with clean, cold water if they feel irritated.
- Use eye drops if necessary, but for severe irritation, use only the eye drops prescribed by an eye specialist. Doctor’s advice is mandatory.
Lighting:
- Avoid exposure to very bright or very dim light, as it can cause headaches.Never look directly at the sun, as the rays can damage the retina. Remember, direct sunlight harms your eyes.
What is the Retina?
The retina is a layer at the back of the eyeball containing light-sensitive cells that trigger nerve impulses. These impulses travel through the optic nerve to the brain, creating a visual image.
Hygiene:
- Wash your eyes with clean water three to four times a day and never rub them.
- If dust enters your eyes, rinse them with clean water. If this doesn’t help, use eye drops prescribed by an eye specialist.
Chemical Exposure:
- Be cautious with hair dyes, shampoos, creams, and powders as they can cause eye problems. The chemicals can affect your eyesight negatively.
- Ensure that no chemical products come into contact with your eyes.
Exercise:
- Walk barefoot on green grass for half an hour before sunrise. This practice strengthens eyesight and is highly regarded in yoga.
- Morning walks are crucial for a healthy life.
Digital Strain:
- Maintain a safe distance from screens such as laptops, mobiles, and tablets.
- Avoid prolonged close-up use of these devices.
Nutrition:
- Include vitamin E in your diet, found in vegetable oils. Vitamin E is beneficial for your eyes and skin.
- Drink a mix of carrot, beetroot, and amla (Indian gooseberry) juice daily to improve overall health and eyesight.
Routine:
- Drink milk with almonds at night to enhance internal strength.
- Keep reading materials at least 10 inches away from your eyes while studying.
Natural Remedies:
- Use rose water in your eyes daily to prevent infections and treat various eye disorders.
- Apply aloe vera paste around your eyes to reduce dark circles and cool your eyes.
Additional Tips:
- Include garlic and onions in your diet for their sulfur and antioxidant content, which are good for eye health.
- Rub your palms together and place them over your eyes to relieve fatigue.
We should pay special attention to all these points. Additionally, if there is a deficiency of any nutrients in our diet, it can be harmful to our eyes. A deficiency of vitamin A in your diet can cause night blindness. Therefore, we should include vitamin A in our diet.
Green vegetables such as spinach, raw radish, raw carrot, cauliflower, and green chili are rich in vitamins. Along with these, we should incorporate apple, carrot juice, amla juice, pomegranate juice, seasonal fruit juice, sunflower seeds and oil, papaya, and guava into our daily routine at least once a day to combat any vitamin deficiencies in our body.
It is also crucial to have a healthy diet that includes carrots, eggs, milk, yogurt, cheese, butter, green leafy vegetables, almonds, papaya, walnuts, and fish. All these items are highly beneficial for health.
With these small and effective habits, we can easily take care of our eyes.
